From radioactive monsters to Norse deities, there has been a diverse array of individuals who can threaten entire civilizations through their strength and abilities. Captain Marvel
Introduced after Avengers: Infinity War, Captain Marvel was to be the heavy hitter of the Avengers. From being able to race across space and planets to being invulnerable to nearly everything, Carol Danvers successfully tipped the scales in favour of Earth’s Mightiest Heroes after they were defeated by Thanos the first time. Captain Marvel’s true powers were on display in Avengers: Endgame when she destroyed Thanos’ spaceships single-handedly. Although the Captain Marvel sequel left much to be desired and her future in the MCU is unclear, Carol Danvers remains one of the most powerful characters to be introduced so far.

Scarlet Witch
Another character that went up single-handedly against Thanos and almost killed him, Wanda Maximoff, aka The Scarlet Witch, is a mutant. First introduced in Avengers: Age of Ultron, the Scarlet Witch has successfully mind-controlled Hulk to level a small town, mind-controlled an entire city to concoct her fantasies, and even managed to defeat Doctor Strange. Wanda’s emotional unbalance has caused the Avengers quite a few headaches, but when she is on her good side, she can do serious damage.
Doctor Strange
The Master of the Mystic Arts, Doctor Strange, has had quite a journey in the MCU. Originally a world-renowned surgeon who made a mistake and fell on hard times, Strange became the Sorcerer Supreme when he learned to let go of logic and let faith in. He has battled fellow wizards, Thanos, and even the Scarlet Witch to varying effects. Able to see the future in his own way, Doctor Strange can bend space and time, not to mention an endless array of spells that can do anything.

Thanos

The only noteworthy villain in the MCU whose power was scary even before he got the Infinity Stones, Thanos is a warlord from Titan whose radical ideas about saving the universe involved random genocide. Thanos has gone up against every single individual on this list (except Sentry) and was only defeated when the Avengers managed to wield the infinity stones. From thoroughly defeating Thor and Hulk to outright killing Loki, Thanos is the MCU’s first big bad, an entity that caused an entire universe to unite to beat.

Loki
The Norse deity Odin’s other son, Loki, is the adopted half-brother of Thor. Originally found as a baby in the world of Frost Giants, Loki’s tricks and mischief know no bounds. An expert fighter and even better trickster, Loki has caused quite a bit of ruckus in the MCU. When he was last seen, Loki was keeping all of reality together after the collapse of TVA, becoming the very thing he swore he would never change into.

Hulk

Bruce Banner was a genius scientist who was exposed to high doses of gamma radiation, turning him into the giant, raging monster called Hulk. Hulk’s power is essentially limitless, and he has never been truly defeated, only temporarily knocked out by various means. Hulk has the ability to absorb blows of all kinds and weapons, and he has even gone one-on-one against both Thanos and Surtur.

The Sentry
The latest entry on this list is The Sentry, introduced in Thunderbolts*. Marvel’s answer to Superman, The Sentry, has all the powers of Superman (invulnerability, flight, super strength, heat vision) plus a little-known thing called telekinesis. However, he hides a dark and terrible secret; within him lives an alter ego called The Void, an entity that can trap individuals into endless loops of their worst nightmares. After being saved from his demons at the end of Thunderbolts*, the Sentry has become an integral part of the New Avengers and will have a pivotal role in Avengers: Doomsday.
